Healthcare and eHealth
CBC’s programme in the healthcare sector responds to key issues on the health agenda for business and governments in the Commonwealth and globally. CBC contributes private sector perspectives through commissioned papers and business/government policy workshops to the annual Commonwealth Health Ministers Meeting. The CBC is currently discussing with public and private sector stakeholders strategies to follow-up the outcomes of the UN High-Level Conference on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) which was also the theme of the 2011 Commonwealth Ministerial meeting.
Other recent areas of CBC activity in healthcare have included strengthening healthcare infrastructure and delivery through public-private partnerships, pharmaceuticals counterfeiting and intellectual property protection, e-Health and social inclusion. CBC’s Working Groups focus on eHealth, lifestyle illnesses, and healthcare infrastructure. The future agenda will also include healthcare and climate change. The CBC’s healthcare programme involves co-operation with Governments, the private sector and regional bodies. Most recently the CBC has established links with the newly-formed Caribbean Public health Agency (CARPHA).
