Mozambique Investment Forum
The Mozambique Investment Forum was held on 18th and 19th October 2012 at the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre. More than 150 international investors from 28 countries attended with a total participation of more than 320. The event was organised by the Commonwealth Business Council in partnership with the Investment Promotion Centre (CPI) and the Confederation of Business Associations (CTA).
In his keynote address, HE Armando Guebuza, President of the Republic of Mozambique highlighted his Government’s efforts to attract investment and improve the business environment. He also emphasised the importance that he attributed to being part of the Commonwealth ‘Family of Nations’.
Speaking in the opening session of the event, Lord Marland, UK Minister for Business, Innovation and Skills, highlighted the increasing importance the UK attached to its relationship with Mozambique. He stated that his delegation was the first that a British Minister had ever taken to Mozambique. In addition to the twenty business leaders who attended as part of Lord Marland’s delegation, more than 50 UK companies attended the event.
The meeting was also addressed by The Hon Armando Inroga, Minister of Trade and Industry, The Hon Paulo Francisco Zucula, Minister of Transport and Communications, The Hon Esperanca Laurinda Francisco Nhiuane Bias, Minister of Mineral Resources, The Hon Amelia Tomas Muendane Nakhare, Deputy Minister of Planning and Development and The Hon Antonio Limbau, Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
Sessions were held focusing on the opportunities in the infrastructure, transportation, energy, mining, financial services, agriculture and tourism sectors, with additional seminars on financing businesses, local content development and market entry strategies.
