Mining on Top Africa: London Summit
The Commonwealth Business Council is partnering with Intierra RMG and UKTI to host the inaugural Mining on Top Africa London Summit, which will include two days of incisive debate between African government officials, mining companies, investors and local experts.
More people in the world will be urbanised in the next 30 years than were born before 1939. This rapid development will place huge burdens on the world’s resources. In order to satisfy this increasing demand there will be a greater focus on the mineral and metal resources of Africa, which will have important implications for the continent.
This requirement for scarce resources is being demanded within an increasingly complex environment, where resource nationalism remains a constant threat, environmental standards are rising and the social license to operate is essential. At the same time issues commonly associated with mining projects (such as infrastructure, skills and finance) remain and in some cases are becoming more acute.
A series of carefully selected speakers will consider these subjects and company presentations highlight the opportunity Africa presents for suppliers, mining companies and investors. The event is free to qualified groups and investors and will be held over two days in Westminster, London.
The conference organisers have a long association with Africa, advising governments, mining companies, financiers and NGOs, resulting in a deep and thorough understanding of its complex needs, ambitions and potential bottlenecks.
