MrPascal  Dozie
Chairman, Diamond Bank Group
Mr. Pascal Gabriel Dozie was born in Owerri, Imo State on April 9, 1939.
 
He attended the London School of Economics from where he graduated in 1966 with specialization in Econometrics. He subsequently obtained the degree of MSc. in Administrative Science from the City University, London, with specialization in Operational Research and Industrial Engineering.
 
Mr. Dozie's career began with a stint as an economist at the National Economic Development Office (NEDO) in the United Kingdom between 1968 and 1969.
 
From 1969 to 1970, he was an Econometrician at the Greater London Development Council and at the same time a part-time lecturer in Quantitative Economics at the North Western Polytechnic, London.
 
In the course of the past three decades, Mr. Dozie has acquired vast experience in the field of Development Economics and Planning.
 
Through his professional consulting activities in several African and European countries, Mr. Dozie has demonstrated proven capability in project preparation, co-ordination and management.
 
Between 1970 and 1971, he served as a Consulting Econometrician at the African States Consulting Organization in East Africa, where his major tasks included the construction of an input-output model for Uganda.
 
On his return to Nigeria in 1972, Mr. Dozie's entrepreneurial bent led to his founding of the African Development Consulting Group Limited, an integrated consultancy firm that has been engaged in major assignments in key economic sectors both in Nigeria and abroad.
 
Between 1972 and 1988, he was Senior Consultant and Representative in Nigeria for Business International S.A., Geneva.
 
Since 1991, Mr. Dozie has served as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Bank Limited, a new-generation, systems-driven commercial banking house that has made a strong presence in the financial industry in its eleven years of existence. He is also the Chairman of MTN Communications Limited, the biggest pan-African GSM operators.
 
Mr. Dozie has contributed immensely to the Nigerian economy and participated in several national and state assignments.
 
He chaired the management audit panel on the Nigerian Airways set up by the Armed Forces Ruling Council in 1985, and was a member of the Presidential Task Force on the Reorganization of the National carrier.
 
He was also a member of the Pius Okigbo Panel set up in 1994 to reform and reorganize the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Mr. Dozie is a past member of the Board of Directors of CBN. He is also a past president of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, and continues to serve on the Exchange's Council as member. He has been on the Advisory Board of the Lagos Business School since its inception in 1991.
 
In the area of socio-economic advocacy and broad policy conception, Mr. Dozie has seamlessly acquitted himself creditably through his chairmanship of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group.
The aim of this private sector-led pressure group is to engender a continuing process of dialogue between the public and private sectors and to deepen general awareness of contemporary development policy issues.
 
The outcome of this dialoguing process has been the futuristic Vision 2010 project that aims at jump-starting Nigeria's progress to a developed economy.
Mr. Dozie played a frontline role in the Vision 2010 process, and serves as a member of the National Council of the Nigerian Vision since its inception in 1998.
 
He currently serves as a member of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission inaugurated in March, 2000 In recognition of the frontline roles he has played in virtually all facets of the national life.
Mr. Dozie was honoured with Merit Award for Excellence by Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture on September 26, 1996;
The honorary degree of Doctor of Law of the Imo State University in May 1999;
Scroll of Merit Award for untiring contribution to the Economic Development of Imo State by the Government of Imo State on January 28, 2000;
Officer of the Order of the Niger, (OON) in November 2000 by the Federal Government of Nigeria;
The Zik Prize in Leadership 2000 by the Public Research and Analysis Centre in November, 2000;
Honorary degree of Doctor of Management Technology of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) in January 27, 2001;
Honorary degree of Doctor of Business Administration (Hon. DBA) of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, on April 28, 2001;
The Benchmark Award in Banking Industry by Enugu State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture on November 30, 2001.
 
Mr. Dozie is married to Chinyere Dozie and they have been blessed with five children.
