CBC Members Dinner with Hon. Kamal Nath and Baroness Ashton, London
CBC members met over dinner in London on 27th January with Trade Ministers from 6 Commonwealth Countries and the European Union Trade Commissioner to exchange views on the challenges and prospects for completing the Doha Round of the World Trade negotiations.

Guests of Honour Hon Kamal Nath, Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry and Baroness Ashton, European Trade Commissioner addressed the participants along with Paul Skinner, CBC Chairman and Dr Mohan Kaul CBC Director General.

Special Ministerial guests included, Hon Dr Boolell of Mauritius, HE Amb Bagudu M Hirse of Nigeria, Hon. Daniel Moraka of Botswana, Hon Monique Nsanzabaganwa of Rwanda and Hon Felix Mutati of Zambia.

Breakfast Meeting and Lagos State Infrastructure Workshop, London

 

The Commonwealth Business Council, The City of London and the Lagos State Government held the Lagos State Infrastructure Workshop on December 4th 2008 for the visiting Lagos State Governor, HE Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN). This immensely successful event, preceded by a breakfast at the Guildhall, gave the Governor of Lagos State and his officials the opportunity to set out the ambitious vision for the development of Lagos States infrastructure to over 200 practitioners from the worlds centres of engineering expertise and innovative finance.

Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor Summit 2009  

The Government of Gujarat inaugurated their 4th Global Investor Summit Vibrant Gujarat in Ahmedabad on 12 & 13th January 2009. The CBC led a delegation of Members to the summit, at which Dr Kaul Chaired a special session on 'Infrastructure with a focus on Special Investment Regions (SIR). The Summit was well attended with over 20,000 delegates comprising Heads of Government, Government Ministers and international business leaders. Over the 2 day summit, $250Billion worth of investment in over 800 MoUs was signed. CBC Technologies, signed a MoU with the Government of Gujarat to build a Clean Technology Solar Power Plant for the production of 5 -10 MW.

CBC Breakfast meeting, Lagos

The CBC had the pleasure of organising and hosting a breakfast meeting at the Eko Hotel Lagos, Nigeria on 22 January 2009 for our members & partners based in Nigeria, including; Kemson Concept Ltd, Oceanic Bank plc, UBA, Horwath Dafinone, Amazon Energy Ltd, Bank PHB, Access Bank plc, First City Monument Bank plc, Intercontinental Bank plc, Union Bank plc. With the number of CBC members in Nigeria increasing, the focus of the breakfast was to outline the CBCs forward programme for Nigeria, and to seek members views on how the CBCs service could be expanded and in which areas future work should concentrate.
